Important Notice - Appointments
No Walk-In Consultations
Due to current shortages, our doctors cannot see patients without an appointment. We apologise that appointments with our doctors are currently fully booked 2-3 weeks in advance. Please ensure you plan your appointments before your medication runs out.
Our Priorities
If your concern is life threatening, please ring 111 or go to Counties Medical – Urgent Care at Takanini or Papakura.
If you have any of the following we can get a nurse to check you:
- Chest pain
- Shortness of breath or
- Babies under 2
- Extremely unwell children under 5
- Elderly
Our nurses may refer you to Counties Medical – Urgent Care if we cannot fit you in with a doctor.
Consultations
Our appointments are 15 minutes. Out of respect for our team and our other patients, if you need more time, or need to discuss more than one or two things with your Practitioner, please book a double appointment. This will incur a double appointment charge.
Prescription Request
If you require a repeat prescription, please request this through our patient portal.
If you have not seen the Doctor within the last six months in relation to your long-term medication, you will need to make an appointment before the Doctor will prescribe any further medication.
Generally, when you order a repeat prescription, it will be ready within 48 hours from the time of ordering your prescription during normal hours (weekends and public holidays not included).
Requests placed after 12pm during the week will not be actioned until the next day.
Missed/Non-Attended Appointments
Failure to attend an appointment or failure to cancel 2 hours before the appointment time will incur a normal consultation fee based on the type of appointment booked. We have observed a significant number of patients booking appointments and subsequently failing to attend. Given the existing shortage of doctors and the current wait time of 2-3 weeks for available appointments, this policy aims to encourage timely cancellations. This will enable other patients to utilise these slots and ensure more efficient use of our healthcare resources.
